“The point of the billboard is to let non-theistic people — such as atheists, agnostics, humanists and freethinkers — know they’re not alone,” explained Roy Speckhardt, executive director of the American Humanist Association. “Non-theists might not realize there’s a community out there for them because they’re inundated with religious messages on every corner. But now they’ll have a message catered specifically to them.”

Reaching out to non-theists isn’t the only goal of the billboard campaign: “We want people to know you can be good without God,” said Maggie Ardiente, director of development of the American Humanist Association. “There’s a lot of misinformation out there about non-theists, so we want to educate people about our community and change those false perceptions. Humanists are patriots, we are dedicated to our families and friends and we want to live fulfilling, virtuous lives.”

Even Christ did not call Himself “Good…”

A certain ruler asked him, saying, “Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life”? And Jesus said unto him, “Why callest thou me good? None is good, save one, that is, God. Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother.” Luke 18:18-20

Here is their philosophy of the “Virtuous Life.”

Consider this one passage from the book entitled “Weep for Our Children” touting the American Humanistic “Values Clarification — Situation Ethics” program…

It’s OK to lie. It’s OK to steal. It’s OK to have premarital sex. It’s OK to cheat or to kill if these things are part of your value system, and you clarified these values for yourself. The important thing is not what values you choose, but that you have chosen them for yourself and without coercion of parents, spouse, priest, friends, ministers or social pressure of any kind.

This might explain a great deal about why the crime rates in school age children are skyrocketing…

Patriotism: love of and/or devotion to one’s country.

We deplore the division of humankind on nationalistic grounds. We have reached a turning point in human history where the best option is to transcend the limits of national sovereignty and to move toward the building of a world community in which all sectors of the human family can participate. Thus we look to the development of a system of world law and a world order based upon transnational federal government. This would appreciate cultural pluralism and diversity. It would not exclude pride in national origins and accomplishments nor the handling of regional problems on a regional basis.

Human progress, however, can no longer be achieved by focusing on one section of the world, Western or Eastern, developed or underdeveloped. For the first time in human history, no part of humankind can be isolated from any other. Each person’s future is in some way linked to all. We thus reaffirm a commitment to the building of world community, at the same time recognizing that this commits us to some hard choices. Humanist Manifesto II, Article 12

While they may be patriotic, it is not America or America’s Creator that they are devoted to or love. Their devotion is to the rise of One World Order, and their commitment is to the building of One World Community without God!

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.

America’s Declaration of Independence, Constitution, and Bill of Rights are all based on the existence of God — The Creator, The God of Nature, Divine Providence — and the fact that The Creator has not only created us all as equals, but has given us all certain unalienable rights.

If there is no Creator then we have no rights!

They call themselves “Humanists” …Butt, God calls them “Fools”…

Only fools say in their hearts,
“There is no God.”
They are corrupt, and their actions are evil;
not one of them does good!

God looks down from heaven
on the entire human race;
he looks to see if anyone is truly wise,
if anyone seeks God.

But no, all have turned away;
all have become corrupt.

not a single one!

    all religions are cults,are made up of cowards and liars. if you are one of them you would try to say something to protect your lies. bible (Book Is Below Legal Education). After 1974 we no longer have the draft or the need to be a mormon missionary or priest of some church. what your excuse? We do not translate names. the sound would stay the same. the charitors to produce those sounds were not available 2000 years ago. as little as 500 years ago the were no vowel symbols or sounds. no letters or sounds in any language for J,W, Y, H, and others . no item, name or situation of the bible or book of mormon was available in there time period. camels are from austraila. donkeys are from new mexico.they were taken to the middle east in 1583 see ships manifest of the old navy. there was no one named King James of England , england is a state, brittian is the county. there was no alphabet until after 1630 maybe a hunderd years latter until it was widly used, that had the letter J sound or symbol. see missing letter j part one and two. the bible and book of mormon violate first grade history and common sense. spirits with out bodies do not speak. or hear or see. god is as we once were without a body. this is the year 2010. the iq of a hebrew person 2000 years ago or in the middle east today. compared to what we should have.?

  3. Gave my heart to Christ when I was 6 years old. Been through all the Christian experiences everything from charismatic Pentecostalism, YEC, OEC, bible college, soup kitchens, did year of missions overseas (that one dealt a critical blow to my faith). Something’s wrong, Christianity doesn’t make sense to me anymore. All I see is a recurring pattern of control and order seemingly designed to keep an individual quiet, obedient and captive. Deceptively ironic that a system of control and captivity would oath buttress freedom FROM captivity and bondage. I see a system of control deliberately designed to cripple the human imagination such that its members are powerless to challenge the status-quo. Something’s deeply wrong here, I realize I cannot even get past the first sentence of the bible: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” What, not Mars? Venus? Saturn? Gliese 581? BPM 37093? Betelgeuse? 433 Eros? Pluto? Charon? Haumea? Makemake? Why absolutely no mention of ANY of those? Not a single one!!! Even the ancient Mayans had more heart and curiosity to investigate such things. Now I am most definitely willing to believe that an ignorant or uneducated human writer (Moses?) came-up with the creation account in the bible. Hey, he did his best with what he knew at the time, no biggie.

    This is of course assuming Rabbi didn’t add too much creative license to their oral traditions. It would be pretty embarrassing if the bible was actually the biggest game of telephone the world has ever seen.
