Cross

Dear Pastor,

I received your letter with much joy and in gladness of heart I answer you. The cross of Christ stands as a mystery to all of mankind. One of His hands points to the PAST for He was there. The upright post stands for the PRESENT for He is here with you and Me NOW. The other hand points to the FUTURE for He is there.

In John 3:14 Jesus prophesied and said, “as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up.”

Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived Numbers 21:9.

When My Son was on the cross I laid the sin, sickness, and disease of the whole world upon Him and He became sin and a worm (serpent, creeping thing)* as He said, “I am a worm, and no man” Psalm 22:6. He was lifted up on the cross as the serpent!!!

The Cross and All My Sin

This truth is the heart and secret of the Gospel. He literally became sin (2 Corinthians 5:21) and the serpent (Job 25:6) on the cross. He then descended into the lower parts of the earth (Ephesians 4:8-10), took the keys of death and hell (Revelation 1:18), preached to the captives lost in the PAST, and set those captives free (1 Peter 3:18-20). He returned to the PRESENT blotting out everything that was written against you and NAILED IT TO HIS OWN CROSS triumphing openly over all principalities and powers (Colossians 2:14-15).

You see I furnished the hammer for those bloody nails and We secured and sealed the FUTURE for you! Then he ascended into Heaven and sat at My mighty right hand triumphing for all to see – NOT JESUS ON THE CROSS – but the ENEMY and ALL YOUR SIN NAILED THERE. This is the TRUE CROSS!

NOW when you look at the cross and see all your sin and Satan nailed there; you’ll KNOW that you have been freed from the Law of Sin and Death (Romans 8:2) and the wicked one cannot touch you (1 John 5:18)!

I AM also with you, PAST, PRESENT, and FUTURE for…

Truly,

I AM

PS – There is so much more to the cross of Christ then one letter can convey. My hope is that you will want to be taught by Me, not just hear about Me in MAN MADE CHURCHES.

  1. Hi,
Hopefully God shows more of the secrets of the cross. This i wish for my life.

  2. Hi again,
that’s new for me – Satan nailed on the cross (What scripture points to that?) ? Was it not the old creature my old self which was crossed?

  3. Thanks for your interest in Word Unplugged! There are several scriptures that show how Satan was nailed on the cross. The first reference is what Jesus said, as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up (John 3:15). When Moses lifted up the Serpent (a symbol of Satan) he was lifting up the creature that had the “power of death” over the people. The root cause of their death was sin, the physical cause of their death was snake venom, and the instrument or executor of their death was the serpent who had the “power of death” in it’s bite.

When Jesus was lifted up on the cross he became sin for us ((2 Corinthians 5:21), suffered physical death for us, and became the serpent or Satan, who had the power of death over us. Hebrews 2:14 shows – Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil. So in His death He destroyed the devil.

Destroy does not mean kill, Destroy: (Strongs 2673) 1 to render idle, unemployed, inactivate, inoperative. 1a to cause a person or thing to have no further efficiency. 1b to deprive of force, influence, power. Now we can understand that when the Devil (Satan) was destroyed he was not killed but was deprived of all force, influence and power over us!

Psalm 22 is Jesus personal account of what happened to Him on the cross. If you read it you will see in verse 6 that He says, I am a worm and no man. The word worm was used in archaic times to refer to a serpent or creeping thing (Websters Collegiate, Eastons Bible Dictionary). Job 25:6 confirms this, How much less man, that is a worm? and the son of man (Jesus), which is a worm (serpent).

  4. Thanks a lot for reply.
i see that picture in the old testament. the killing power was the sin – Interestingly *only* thru sin satan get’s power over us. So it’s the sin which bounds us and satan thru the flesh who leads us to temptation. So as you wrote Jesus became sin and by the cross he died for us judged for our sin. And he died for us so that we need not to die physically to get free from sin but we died spritually for the sin.
So i think it’s not satan who was crucified it was the power of sin which he made powerless and also made powerless satan.

  5. I think that is right, Christ was crucified physically, spiritually the serpent and all our sin was nailed there and rendered powerless against us. Looking at the cross in this light turns it from a symbol of death and defeat to a symbol of life and victory!

  6. Hi again,
Even we discuss about the cross it must be *revealed* thru the Holy Spirit and the word of God. My revelation of it is still very small. How to train looking and holding it? – the cross and the victory?
Chrstianty is very easy to live without looking on it. Today it is important to have the focus on what the church is doing and not on what Christ has already be done.

  7. Hi,
What’s preached in the churches? A lot – really a lot! But Paul told the Galatians that he did not get tired of painting the right picture of the cross in their minds.

  8. Hi Karl,

I added a picture to look at and hold on to, sorry it was not ready in time! Remember how God showed Abraham the stars:

Then the Lord brought Abram outside beneath the night sky and told him, “Look up into the sky and count the stars if you can. That’s how many descendants you will have!” Genesis 15:4*

The Cross and All My Sin

God gave Him a picture to go with the promise and each time Abraham saw the stars he remembered and believed God! When we see the cross and our sin nailed there we should believe that we are free from condemnation, sin and death – as a new creature we cannot sin – and the wicked one cannot touch us (1 John 5:18).

  9. When we see the cross and our sin nailed there we should believe that we are free from condemnation, sin and death – as a new creature we cannot sin – and the wicked one cannot touch us

i agree 100% but in my life i am always knocked down by my flesh. It sounds easy and it is but still hard to hold your eyes on it!
    Greetings and thanks for feedback

  10. Hi Ministermark,
let’s get personal i see the cross and i see the reminder of my sins nailed on. but it does not reach my heart. I’m more depressed by my daily sins and distance from God.
Thank you for the NLT Translation
    Karl

  11. Greetings Karl,
If we have been buried with Him in baptism and risen to new life then our old man has died, our sin has been purged (completely removed) and it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me (Romans 7:17). So when it happens all we need to do is to confess… If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). This immediately restores us to fellowship with our Father. If He dwells in you then He cannot be too far from you! Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you (James 4:18)

  12. Yes!
    ministermark,
that’s the truth and my depressing comes from that the truth is not completely nailed into my heart.
thanks for the answer – Karl
