Born Again?

Born again Christians are defined as people who said they have made a personal commitment to Jesus Christ that is still important in their life today and who also indicated they believe that when they die they will go to Heaven because they had confessed their sins and had accepted Jesus Christ as their savior. Barna Group, Ventura California, USA

Unfortunately, this definition does not in any way relate to the Biblical process of being “Born Again!”

  1. Hi,
Interestingly Jesus called somebody as born again when he is driven by the wind – the Holy Spirit. Something Jesus said you cannot count and understand but you can see the effect. So for me to be born again must be more than the confession it’s a Holy Spirit/God’s word oriented new life.

  2. Good morning Karl,

Being born again is more than just a confession. It’s being washed by God in the water of baptism and being born of God in the spirit. Like the wind we cannot see the Holy Spirit of God but we can feel and know the effects…

  3. Thats exactly what i meant, baptized with water and Holy Spirit and walking in the power (influenced by the wind) of the Holy Spirit.
    yes!

  4. I have talked with people who profess to be Christians but when I ask them if they are Born Again their response was “what is Born Again?”

I in some what disbelief say “if you don’t know, you aren’t.”

  5. Greetings Jess,

Born Again? If you don’t know, you aren’t…

Well said, unfortunate but true. Many others who say they have been “Born Again” are not either. They have prayed the “Sinners Prayer” and been told they are now “Born Again” but in fact are not. Even though they may have experienced an encounter with God they have only had a taste.

O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him. Psalm 34:8
